Social Driver was brought on board to create a logo commemorating the centenary of "Mateship" between Australia and the United States by the Australian Embassy. The goal was to create a new brand reflective of the Mateship that could be leveraged for content, merchandise, and more.

Challenge

Social Driver was tasked with creating an entirely new brand, including a newly redesigned logo that effectively represents the harmony and friendship between Australia and the United States, incorporating elements from both countries. The design had to evoke imagery and colors that symbolized both countries. The new logo included both the eagle and kangaroo as symbols of each country. Beyond the symbolic inclusions, our team has full creative freedom. 

Solution

A logo was designed with distinctly Australian and American elements coming together to form a unified whole. The new logo has an eagle and a kangaroo representative of each country while also using red, white, and blue, the colors of both flags. Multiple lockups were created to ensure versatility across various digital and printed materials. This included:

  • Five lockups in three colorway options
  • Merchandise including stickers, mug, tote bag
  • Email template
  • Printed brochure
  • Letterhead
  • Ad campaign concept
  • Event banner
  • Billboard
  • Brand Style Guide

Our new design not only captured the hundred-year-old Mateship, but we created a robust collection of designs that could be used across all circumstances that may be needed. 

Results

The Mateship logo was successfully created, representing the century-long friendship between Australia and the United States. The designs were incredibly well received. They also were used outside of the new embassy construction in DC on various printed objects (hats, mugs, flags, banners) and much more. The flexible brand made it easy for the Government of Australia to showcase the unique mateship between our countries across digital and physical assets. From down under to the nation’s capital, the Mateship reinforced the strong bond between the countries, codified and stylized through our branding project.
