On November 11, Social Driver cofounders Anthony Shop and Thomas Sanchez were awarded Business Leaders of the Year by the D.C. Chamber of Commerce during their annual gala. The event celebrated local trailblazers, recognized with the Chamber's Choice Awards, who have found innovative solutions to issues in the D.C. area.
Each year, the D.C. Chamber recognizes an individual or organization that has a significant impact on the economic vitality of the District of Columbia. This year, the D.C. Chamber wanted to celebrate our cofounders' excellent work at Social Driver and how it enhances the business climate in the District of Columbia.
Social Driver CSO Anthony Shop said of the celebration, "What a surprise and what an honor it was when the D.C. Chamber contacted us with the news that we received this award," Anthony said. "We are so grateful that this amazing organization, which is known for its tremendous work to support and elevate the D.C. business community, chose to recognize the Social Driver team."
"Thank you to President and CEO Angela Franco, along with everyone at the D.C. Chamber of Commerce for recognizing our efforts to create innovation and economic vitality in D.C. and beyond," Thomas added.
The event, hosted by local news anchor Erika Gonzalez of NBC4, celebrated other honorees, including Wanda Durant (Economic Impact Award), Corey Griffin (Special Recognition: Business Recovery Leadership Award), and businesses WPFW 89.3 (Community Impact Award), Hoffman-Madison Waterfront (Business of the Year), and JMA Solutions (Veteran Impact Award). Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser also presented special remarks.
A small group of Social Driver staff, friends, and family joined in on the celebration. "The gala was an incredible experience," said Marketing Director Elyssa Hines, "It was wonderful to dress up (in Social Driver colors too!), dance to a live band, and, most importantly, celebrate our cofounders! As a remote employee, I hadn't even met them in person. It was a great time all around."
